The layer everything else depends on.
Every other system in the building runs across the network, and it is the hardest place to diagnose accurately. A Wi-Fi complaint is often answered with new hardware when the hardware was never the cause.

Why the Wi-Fi is probably not the Wi-Fi.
There are two completely different complaints that sound identical when a user reports them. The icon disconnects, or it stays connected and nothing loads. The first lives in the radios. The second lives in DHCP, DNS or the gateway and will never appear in a wireless log no matter how long you stare at one. Asking which of the two you have is free, and it saves weeks.

How it goes.
A site that is only slow from inside the office is a network question, not a website one. Worth ruling out before anyone rebuilds anything.
We establish what the fault is
Which layer it lives on, and what it costs a user in seconds. Not how many lines appear in a log.
We measure before changing anything
So there is a baseline to compare against. Otherwise nobody can tell whether a fix worked.
One change at a time
Change three things at once and there is no way to tell which one mattered, so the same fault has a way of returning.

Things people ask first.
Our Wi-Fi drops constantly. Do we need new access points?
Possibly, but that is the last question, not the first. Devices going quiet in a log is normal behavior and costs users nothing. What matters is how many seconds someone was actually off the air. Measure that before anyone buys hardware.
It is also worth checking whether the complaint is really about dropping at all, or about being connected while nothing loads. Those are different faults with different fixes.
Do you work with our existing equipment?
Usually, yes. Replacing equipment is sometimes the right call. Often what you already have is capable, and configuring it properly is faster and cheaper than buying again.
What is network segmentation and do we need it?
It means keeping different kinds of device on separate parts of the network, so a camera or a guest phone cannot reach the machine your accounts live on. If you have cameras, guest access or card payments on the same flat network as staff computers, then yes.
Can you help with an office move?
Yes, and the earlier the better. Circuits and numbers take longer to arrange than anyone expects, and a move planned two weeks out is a very different experience from one planned two months out.
Do you document what you set up?
Always, and you keep it. Addressing, policy, equipment and layout. If you ever replace us the next person should not have to start by reverse engineering your building.
